Yes! Montreal is considered a very safe city. You should take all the typical precautionary measures like you normally would, but generally, the city is very safe. Downtown Montreal is a safe walking area because it is very active at night. There are usually many people enjoying the activities!

No, Montreal has very low crime rates, and it is rated in the top 10 safest cities in Canada with one of the lowest violent crime rates. The biggest issues are petty theft, which happens in tourist areas when bags are left attended. So keep your belongings close, but enjoy your time in Montreal!
